CAPOEIRA ANGOLA CHILDREN

 N.O.R.D. Annunciation Center located at 800 Race St. ages 5 to 12 Attire; Sneakers T-Shirt and loose-fitting clothes no shorts or tank tops Classes taught by MESTRE Curtis Pierre. The roots of “Kapoeira ” are in Angola, West Africa It was brought to Brasil in the 1500s by enslaved Africans. Created as a means of self-defense in honor of their indigenous culture. Capoeira was originally an Angola, “Zebra dance”

7:00pm – 9:00pm Attire; Sneakers T-Shirt and loose fitting clothes no shorts or tank tops Classes taught by MESTRE Curtis Pierre’s opinion is that this form of Afro Brazilian martial art is called Kapoeira Angola aka (of Africa) which identifies it’s ties to the motherland. a different approach to kapoeira putting more emphasis on moving fluidly, stamina, cardio, balance and flexibility the martial art is hidden within the practice of the movements.

KIDS STILT WALKING

This is a free kids only class for kids to learn how to walk on stilts and at the same time help build self-esteem, motivation and confidence building. learning to be calm and relaxed is one of the most difficult things for most kids to do annual adults this program helps them to focus on the moment that they are in. This also helps them focus and be concentrated at other times in their lives

BRASILIAN PERCUSION CLASSES (BY Mestre Curtis Pierre. INTERMEDIATE/ADVANCE

This is the intermediate to advanced level Brazilian percussion class. If you have skills in playing Samba drums this is the class for you. We do carnival styles from Rio and Bahia. We also do folkloric Afro-Brazilian rhythms like Batuque, Jongo, Ilu, aloja, Samba Afro, Samba Reggae, congo, Barra vento and more.
